Actual Madrid star Benzema nonetheless in ache from Liverpool sort out

According to Spanish publication Marca, Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema is still uncomfortable and may have doubts tonight due to a nasty challenge from Liverpool star James Milner on Wednesday.

During the second leg in the Champions League, which ended 0-0 and Liverpool were eliminated from the competition, Milner prevailed against Benzema and hammered the striker’s ankle with the challenge.

Marca also shares another article showing that Benzema’s boots were actually torn from the rash that somehow went unpunished.

The Spanish publication now reports that Zinedine Zidane is considering resting the 33-year-old against Getafe tonight. Benzema would be a massive loss for Los Blancos tonight.

Benzema has scored nine goals in his last seven La Liga games. The Spanish division’s top spot is at stake but it may be wiser for Zidane to give the French a much-needed break.

Los Blancos face Cadiz on Wednesday evening and Real Betis in La Liga on Saturday before the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea in nine days.

Milner was at the end of a nasty challenge himself in the first half that sparked brief sort of hand-to-hand combat and a variety of memes related to Andy Robertson, sparked by Zidane’s reaction to the outbreak.

Madrid’s squad is already worn out from injury issues but the hectic schedule that starts tonight – or rather continues given the nature of this season – will put Zidane’s team selection tactics to the test.

Benzema’s break would not only interrupt the superstar’s wonderful run in La Liga, it would also keep the former French international losing ground in the race for the Pichichi (top scorer).

Marca also note that Zidane’s trustworthy talisman has had no penalties to pounce on like rivals Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez since becoming the taker after Sergio Ramos’ injury some time ago.

Even so, Benzema has scored 19 league goals this season, 25 if all competitions are included. The Frenchman has been the team’s most reliable and best player for another year.
