Arsenal goal Maddison to tear up the Premier League
Paul Merson has backed Arsenal transfer goal James Maddison to tear the Premier League apart in the coming season
After the Gunners lost to Aston Villa in the race for Emiliano Buedia from Norwich and then Dani Ceballos left the club and returned to the Bernabeu, the club has a number of potential signings in their sights
And that has led to a lot of media reports that Arsenal are considering a move for Maddision.
Maddison has grown into one of the Premier League’s top attacking midfielders in recent seasons and is reportedly interested in joining the Emirates
Now, amid speculation that Arsenal might be interested, Merson believes the ex-Norwich player’s expulsion from the English league could help him thrive this league season.
“Before his unfortunate injury last season he was flying absolutely for Leicester City and I felt like he came back a little early.
“I like Maddison and I think he can really make a difference this season.
“He can really break it and will have an advantage over those who made international commitments earlier this summer as these players may not start the upcoming season for their respective clubs.”
Look, Maddison is a top notch player who is worth a lot of money, but despite the fact that Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the game, they are no longer at the level they were just a few seasons ago.
If they get it it would be a great commitment but we believe he’ll rip it apart for Leicester, not the Gunners, in the coming season
