Arsenal provide for James Maddison turned down by Leicester Metropolis
arsenal is going through a very difficult time. Despite new additions last summer, they finished 8th in the Premier League last season.
The club from north London came in 8th for the second time in a row. In addition, the club was unable to qualify for any European competition, which explains its worst performance in 25 years.
Mikel Arteta is looking to recruit new reinforcements in the face of a stronger comeback for the new season, which is only a few weeks away. However, the main concern of the club is creativity. Since the departure of Mesut Özil, Arsenal have struggled due to a lack of creativity in attack.
Nevertheless, the club wants to get an attacking midfielder. Arsenal have James Maddison and Martin Odegaard in their sights. While Maddison is the main target for her.
Arsenal’s offer for James Maddison has been turned down
According to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Leicester City have turned down an offer from Arsenal for James Maddison. The north London club is in constant talks with Leicester City about a deal. They even made an offer to sign either Reiss Nelson or Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
As a shock to Arsenal, the Foxes turned down the offer. The Premier League giants want to lower James Maddison’s asking price. So they tried to offer Leicester City a player-plus-cash deal.
The Foxes, however, estimate James Maddison at £ 70 million and it’s not easy for the Gunners to produce that amount of money. Since their owner Stan Kroenke hardly invests in the club, the Gunners are dependent on player sales.
Even so, Arsenal haven’t made any significant sales. So far, only David Luiz, William Saliba and Matteo Guendouzi have gone out. Although Arsenal were on the verge of selling Granit Xhaka, the Swiss international is now ready to sign a new deal.
There remains optimism that an agreement can still be reached for James Maddison. But there isn’t much time left as the transfer window will close in a month’s time.
Plan B: Martin Odegaard
Arsenal have their Plan B ready if the deal with James Maddison doesn’t go through. If necessary, the Gunners then turn to Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian impressed Mikel Arteta on his short loan last season.
Martin Odegaard made his way to Arsenal in the January transfer window. He played 14 games for her in the Premier League. Arsenal’s attack took off under Odegaard.
He’s not sure if he would get any chances under new coach Carlo Ancelotti. And if the new manager decides not to include Odegaard in his plans, then then real Madrid will definitely try to sell him.
Many Premier League clubs are keen on Martin Odegaard. Liverpool and Chelsea look at him. But Martin Odegaard is said to be interested in joining Arsenal if Real Madrid want to sell him. Arsenal could benefit from this.
