Barcelona eager on Frankfurt standout Andre Silva
Barcelona’s transfer plans for this summer under new President Joan Laporta are already taking shape.
While Romelu Lukaku and Memphis Depay remain two of their most coveted targets, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva is also a player Barca are keen to bring to Camp Nou, according to Marca.
The Portugal international is currently one of the best strikers in the world. Silva has scored 21 goals in just 24 games and helped Adi Hutter’s side secure a place in the Champions League.
This is without a doubt Silva’s best season so far, having scored just 12 goals for the Eagles last season. Before moving to Germany, he struggled to find his form at AC Milan.
However, Silva’s La Liga experience is tempting to the Catalans, who scored nine goals in 27 games for Sevilla in the 2018/19 season.
The 25-year-old is currently valued at € 28m but the fee could rise dramatically by the summer given his top form. Manchester City are also keeping an eye on the player as they continue to look for Sergio Aguero’s replacement.
As for Barcelona, their financial plight could prevent notable signings. Depay’s current contract in Lyon expires in June, which means he would be available for a free transfer – a scenario that would be beneficial for the La Liga giants.
You’re also one of the many big European clubs interested in Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland, but the battle for his signature is sure to be fierce € 180 million Price tag.
As for Silva, he could be a viable option for Barca. It has taken the striker a while to really gain a foothold in Europe but this breakout season with Eintracht could be beneficial for his future.
Whether Barca or another club, it would not be a surprise if Silva used his talents elsewhere in the coming transfer window.
