Bruce proclaims he’s nonetheless engaged on attempting to signal attacker for Toon
Steve Bruce has announced that he is still working to convince Arsenal to allow Joe Willock to return to Newcastle this summer
Willock has impressed since joining the Magpies on loan in January, scoring eight goals in the process, and Steve Bruce has made no secret of his desire to land a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.
However, it seems that Arteta wanted to give the 21-year-old a chance this summer and although he has admitted the Toon was the right place for Willock, he wants to give the attacker a chance next season
But it’s no secret in the media that Bruce is still trying to get Arsenal to move Willock back to the Toon either on loan or permanently this summer if a fee can be agreed.
Now Bruce has told Arsenal that Newcastle United will continue to ‘sniff’ in their attempt to sign Willock again: “As I said, it really is Arsenal’s decision,” Bruce said on Sunday.
“And until Arsenal make a decision, like all the big clubs, they’ll be watching the pre-season, we’ll keep watching and jostling.”
“We’d like to do something but it’s still Arsenal’s call.”
As far as we know, Arsenal have made it pretty clear that they have no intention of letting Willock leave the club this summer, so why is Bruce still trying? He has to look for players to sign or he won’t be able to improve the squad this summer
