Celtic manager Neil Lennon resigned from his post today after a dire series of results.

The Hoops were expected to win their 10th straight league title this season, but they have been quite mediocre in all competitions and the reigning champion is currently 18 points behind bitter rivals Rangers.

The Ibrox team is about to win the Scottish Premiership this season and it’s no surprise that Celtic have decided to part ways with Lennon.

It will be interesting to see who will replace the former Celtic player.

According to the club official websiteCurrent Assistant Manager John Kennedy will temporarily lead the team.

It seems that the Scottish giants are trying to fix a fixed date at the end of this season.

Lennon has some of the blame for his side’s performances this season, but it’s also true that the club needs a makeover.

It remains to be seen if the hoops can invest in high profile players and refresh their roster before the start of next season.

Neil Lennon sent a message after he left. He said: “We have had a difficult season due to so many factors and it is obviously very frustrating and disappointing that we have not been able to reach the same heights as before.

“I’ve worked as hard as ever to turn things around but unfortunately we haven’t been able to get the kind of run going that we needed.

“I’ve always done my best for the club and took pride in delivering cutlery to the Celtic devotees. The club will always be a part of me. I will always be a Celtic supporter myself and I will always want the best for Celtic.

“I want to thank so many people in the club who have given me so much, and I also want to thank my family for their love and support. I wish all the Celtic supporters, players, staff and directors success for the future. “

Some of the Celtic fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Lennon’s departure, and here’s what they had to say.

The board should hang its head in shame, everyone knew that Neil Lennon should have run by December at the latest!

Banker and the other Tories should be removed with immediate effect!

He shouldn’t have resigned at the end of February !!! He should have been fired in October when we still had a chance to save the season. Kennedy and Strachan have to follow him out the door, we don’t owe Kennedy a job for life.

A regrettable and completely avoidable chapter in the club’s history. The executive team must carry the can to permanently appoint him, poorly administer him, and fail to relieve him of his duties many months ago. A deplorable standard for amateurism.

An unfortunate one, to say the least, that ends in Neil’s time. The best move for everyone.
I still wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his many years of service and success.
An enormously important time when the club has to be right. 👍🍀🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Too little too late. A “true Celtic man” would not have despised the followers so much in the last 4 months, a support that unfortunately saw this car accident a long time ago

A good day. His reputation is gone now. He should have resigned months ago.
