Chelsea switch information: Giroud almost joined Lazio
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud was apparently close to sealing a transfer to Lazio in January 2020, Fabrizio Romano told The Laziali.
The French international has been a key performer for Chelsea and Arsenal in his Premier League career and it is not surprising that major clubs across Europe seem interested in him since he abandoned the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

It appears Giroud had come very close to joining Lazio and reached an oral settlement before the move ultimately failed, according to The Laziali.
The veteran striker recently signed a new deal with Chelsea so it will be interesting to see if that ends the speculation about his future.

Thomas Tuchel will certainly have to make some changes this summer after Timo Werner’s informality, but Giroud could be worth staying as a squad player.
However, if the 34-year-old is not used regularly, he could still imagine moving to Lazio or something similar, where he would certainly get more regular chances to start the games.
