Chelsea to promote Guehi to Palace in £20m deal
Chelsea will bid farewell to talented young defender Marc Guehi this summer, while Crystal Palace is close to completing the 21-year-old’s signature, according to Athletic.
Athletic’s David Ornstein and Stuart James found out that the center-back actually had a medical exam with the Eagles today before signing a five-year deal with the South London Club.
Palace has secured the signature of a sought-after talent as Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle, Norwich, Brentford, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach were all interested.
Patrick Vieira’s new club, ready to invest heavily in Guehi, Palace won the race while most prospective buyers had their eye on a loan deal that included the option to sign the ace on a permanent basis.
The Standard reports that the deal will actually be worth up to £ 20 million, which is a sizeable return for the Blues for one of their talented academy graduates.

The Athletic added that Chelsea were reluctant to part ways with the England Under-21 international but Palace’s proposal was ultimately deemed too good to reject and Guehi is being sold.
While some of the blues believers will be disappointed when an exciting prospect – who has impressed Swansea in the championship for the past 18 months – leaves the club, there is some breathing space …
The Athletic states that Chelsea added a sale clause as well as matching rights to the deal.
Guehi played two senior team games for Chelsea, both in the first half of the 19/20 League Cup. The ace then went to Swansea on loan and has not looked back since.
The Ivory Coast-born defender made 14 games for the Jacks in his first six-month stint and showed enough skill to earn another loan deal for the rest of the season.
Guehi made 40 appearances in the championship last season, helping Swansea finish fourth before appearing in each of their playoff games when they were defeated in the final.
Guehi certainly seems up for the challenge of Premier League football.
