Dumfries addresses rumours with Arsenal linked with switch
Arsenal goal Denzel Dumfries has reacted to the transfer talks about him during his impressive Euro 2020 campaign
Mikel Arteta may be enjoying a break from his duties as head of the Gunners, but that hasn’t stopped media speculation about possible signings that could hit the Emirates in recent seasons.
And that has led to media reports that the Gunners are just one of many clubs that are very interested in Dumfries after his brilliant start to the European Championship.
Dumfries has been one of the stars of the summer tournament so far, scoring the winning goal in the Netherlands’ 3-2 win over Ukraine before doubling his account to beat Austria 2-0.
But Dumfries says he’s not going to be distracted by speculation about his future at PSV ahead of his country’s game against North Macedonia: “I just play my game as always. I am not worried at all. I am fully focused on the tournament. There is still a lot of room for improvement.
“I would like to learn to choose the right position in the ball possession phase, in the passages, so that I can make the right choice in advance and improve my performance.”
The 25-year-old defender reportedly has a € 15m release clause in his contract and is also attracting the attention of Italian giant Inter.
All we have to say is that Arsenal have the money to close this deal as their asking price is well within the Gunners’ budget.
