Who were the best and worst players on the pitch?

Ronald Araujo: 8.0

The Uruguayan defender looks like a real find. He only found his way into the team after the injury to Gerard Pique, but is really impressive with his calm performances and did it again here with a good goal.

He won his one tackle and 5/7 of his attempted duels, as well as his six recoveries. He also made 114 touches, more than anyone on the court.

He is building a great reputation for the Catalan side and solving a huge problem for Koeman at the center of his defense.

Riqui Puig (no rating)

No rating for Riqui as he was only on the field for three minutes plus injury time. However, it was during that time that he managed to achieve the goal and the recognition his teammates showed him showed a certain level of respect for a young man who was frozen but wanted to show his worth.

It’s unlikely to have convinced Koeman yet, but this is a start.

Frenkie de Jong: 9.2

Ronald Koeman’s decision to give De Jong a more dynamic role on the team is definitely paying off. He now has five goals this season after scoring the first goal at Elche.

He practically stuck the ball over the line below the crossbar, but it was the fact that he was able to score that was most impressive.

And his support for Riqui Puig’s goal in the final minutes, which ran rampant on the right side before shooting a nice cross at the midfielder’s head, showed the other side of his game. He’s a much better player and this was an important win.
