According to well-known journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Everton is working on a deal to sign Max Aarons of Norwich City in the next transfer window.

The Toffees signed Ben Godfrey from Norwich last summer and it looks like they’re looking at Aarons now as Carlo Ancelotti looks to bolster the right-back division.

Manchester United tracked him down and they will decide in the coming months. After the opening talks with Norwich, Bayern Münich is * not * convinced to pay 35 million euros for him, as @cfbayern reported. 🔴 https://t.co/phsV5Opcb8

European champions Bayern Munich were seriously interested in him but it seems like they pulled out of the race.

Norwich have always claimed that they will sell their precious asset at the right price, but Bayern are dissatisfied with the asking price. Despite the opening talks, they have decided not to pursue the deal any further.

Manchester United have tracked down the exciting young full-back and the Red Devils will decide if they want to take a formal move for him in the coming months.

SL view

Seamus Coleman remains the club’s first choice right-back but Everton will have to plan for his long-term replacement.

Jonjoe Kenny, who joined Celtic on loan in January, has failed to convince Ancelotti this season and doubts remain about his long-term future.

People like Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey have played in this position many times, but it is only a short-term emergency response.

The Toffees need a solid right-back and have earmarked Aarons for that role. He has tremendous potential with plenty of room for improvement and would be a great addition to the club.

United are likely looking at another young right-back who is more offensive.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has done well since joining from Crystal Palace, but United need another solid backup option.

If United manage to sign Aarons it will cast serious doubts on the future of Brandon Williams – the versatile full-back who has fought for regular time this season.

In other news, Pep Guardiola hailed Carlo Ancelotti as a “quiet Buddha”.
