Giroud is turning into undroppable at Chelsea claims Murphy

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud becomes “unstoppable” according to Danny Murphy

Despite the fact that Giroud was a key player for Chelsea last season to get back to the top 4 spots, there was constant speculation about his long-term future at the club as he simply wasn’t a regular this season.

Giroud, however, scored five goals again in a week, scoring four goals against Sevilla and leveling in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Leeds, and is quickly becoming an important part of the team for Frank Lampard.

And Murphy has claimed that the Frenchman from Chelsea is actually unstoppable, Murphy said on SUN: “Frank rightly mentioned Leeds’ qualities, but Giroud deserves all the credit in the world.

“He is not underestimated by me or by people who know football. When you play the game at the highest level, you know how important a striker like him is to the team. He is a focus.

“With the first header he almost hit early. I don’t know how Timo Werner kept that out.

“He’s looked up so much that after midweek he’s full of confidence and all good strikers are playing in space. It was a great end.

“Also the awareness of the game, the knowledge of where people are running, their strength and presence. Everything about his performance says, keep me on the team.

“Leeds was unhappy about the second, but it was only his physical presence that knocked Liam Cooper down. He’s right on the team, he’s earned his way.

“People have been thinking about him leaving in January or talking about wanting to play in the euro, but he is unstoppable right now.”

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes blues boss Frank Lampard should be “very selfish” and prevent Olivier Giroud from leaving the team.

Hasselbaink told Premier League Productions: “I don’t think they can afford to let Giroud go.

“Even if he’s not number one. Come off the bank and do something different.

“I know he wants to go, but I think Frank has to be very selfish there and say no.”
