Graham Potter feedback on Liverpool goal Yves Bissouma
Brighton boss Graham Potter has suggested midfielder Yves Bissouma be focused on doing well at the club while his future is speculated.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Seagulls in 2018 for a fee on the order of £ 15million, has a contract at the club until 2023.
He has been very impressive this season and has caught the attention of several heavyweight Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Potter has claimed Brighton did not receive offers for the midfielder and has questioned the reliability of the media.
Bissouma has been one of the most consistent players in Brighton this season, starting in each of the top 13 games.
“There were no attempts. Like I said, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true just because it’s in the paper, “Potter said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“My focus on Yves is how to help him improve and I think he still has some improvements to do.
“This is my focus with him to help him reach his full potential. He still has something to do, so let’s focus on that. “
Brighton is struggling to survive this season and is two points above the relegation zone.
Bissouma, who has made 70 appearances in all competitions for Brighton, is a very good player, but he is far from being the finished product. Potter is absolutely right that he still has some improvements to do and that he is not ready to leave Amex Stadium anytime soon.
Liverpool are a block of world class midfielders and stocking up on that position doesn’t make sense, especially in January.
Signing a defender is a priority for the Reds over the next month to cover injuries to Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk. However, it will be interesting to see if the Reds even take any approach to signing the midfielder.
