Hakan Calhanoglu not eager on Premier League transfer, prefers AC Milan keep
Hakan Calhanoglu is not interested in a move to the Premier League and prefers to renew his contract with AC Milan, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport of Milan Live.
The 27-year-old has been in good shape for the Rossoneri this season, scoring six goals and eleven assists from 25 appearances in all competitions.
He’s considered one of the undisputed starters of the Rossoneri when he’s fit, but his future at the club remains uncertain as his contract expires in June.
Earlier this season it was reported that Manchester United were interested in Calhanoglu and they had a good chance of signing him for a pre-contract.
However, it now shows that the playmaker has turned down offers from the Premier League and is interested in clearing his contract with the Rossoneri.
Calhanoglu currently has an annual package of around 2.5 million euros and the Milanese giants have proposed a new long-term deal worth 4 million euros.
The offer was rejected and his agent Gordon Stipic asked for € 5m plus performance bonuses for the Turkish international.
Calhanoglu has increased his performance since mid-December with eight goals (one goal and seven assists) from as many league games.
His expiring contract may be behind his rebound in form, but it can also be said that the 27-year-old is finding consistency in the prime of his career.
His quality distribution in the final third and his ability to set standards would appeal to many elite clubs in the Premier League, including the Red Devils.
However, it appears that Calhanoglu is keen to extend his stay in San Siro and is ready to be patient despite the lengthy contract negotiations.
