How Barcelona may line up in opposition to Sevilla
Barcelona have everything they can to do to win the Copa del Rey as they face a 2-0 deficit in the second leg of the semi-finals against Sevilla.
Jules Kounde and Ivan Rakitic’s goals gave Sevilla two goals before the second leg, but Barca beat them 2-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan at the weekend – a warning shot for Lionel Messi & Co.
Indeed, the prospects for Barca continue to improve on the field. They have closed the void with Atletico Madrid at the top of the Primera Division table to five points and although they need a miracle to qualify in the Champions League after a 4-1 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, it persists Silver ware prospect not as far away as it was a week ago.
Barcelona have a limited number of injury problems ahead of the weekend.
Center-back Ronald Araujo is expected to be available to start this game in the heart of defense. He could team up with Gerard Pique for the first time since October 4th.
Indeed, Koeman is faced with a crucial decision as to whether to put three behind him, as he did at the weekend.
In the meantime, the midfield will have to do without Pedri, who has to pause for two to three weeks due to a muscle injury in his left leg. Miralem Pjanic now has an ankle problem.
In the absence of older players to fill those roles, Barcelona could ask Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong to start again while Riqui Puig could get the nod to play alongside them. However, Ilaix Moriba was preferred to him by the bank on Sunday, which should be considered a legitimate option.
It is unlikely that the top three spots will be touched. Lionel Messi is flanked by Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann.
