Manchester Metropolis to tackle Blues for RB Leipzig star
Chelsea news: This season Chelsea and Manchester City will fight for the Premier League title. However, this is not the only place where they join horns together. The two English giants will also be involved in a transfer battle.
According to the Daily Star, both Chelsea and Manchester city would like to sign Christopher Nkunku. The 23-year-old joined the club from PSG in 2019. Since joining the German team, he has played 94 games, scored 21 goals and provided another 30 assists.
He started in good shape this season as well. He has scored 9 goals in 10 games and provided 3 assists in all competitions. It should also be remembered that the Frenchman is only 23 years old.
Chelsea News: Why does Chelsea want to sign Nkunku?
Blues manager Thomas Tuchel previously worked with the youngster. The duo worked together during Tuchel’s two and a half year reign at PSG. So the German has the player firsthand.
Not only that, there are other reasons why Chelsea want the striker. Right now the Blues have players like Ziyech, Hudson Odoi, Mount, Pulisic, Havertz etc. However, most of Chelsea’s strikers have yet to gain a foothold in the Premier League.
People like Hudson Odoi and Ziyech have struggled to make a difference. Havertz was inconsistent. While Werner still has to score goals on a regular basis. Perhaps some of the Chelsea strikers will leave the club to make way for the Frenchman.
Why does Manchester City want him?
Pep Guardiola experienced firsthand what Nkunku is capable of. The RB Leipzig striker scored a hat trick against his team in a 6-3 win for Manchester City. It is undoubtedly a rare feat for any gamer.
Raheem Sterling could be on the way too. The winger has a hard time getting playing time under Guardiola. That could also be in the mind of the Cityzens.
Christopher Nkunku always threatened to be the best of the youth class that PSG sold out in ’19. He’s been a blast this year, but the way he’s gotten better over the past few years has only been inevitable. Greetings to Leipzig for allowing it to thrive in the middle instead of pushing it far

Statistics behind Nkunku and the agent’s confirmation
Chelsea News: That season he had completed 1.69 dribbles per game. 5.09 shot generating actions per game and 6.20 progressive carriers per game. According to Transfermarkt, the Frenchman is valued at around £ 35 million.
With these stats and rating, it’s understandable why Premier League clubs are interested in him. The same has also been confirmed by his agent Pini Zahavi, who has confirmed that he is talking to Chelsea and Manchester about a move next summer.
Although the player is talented, Chelsea and Man City fans want other wingers over him. This is because he doesn’t have to establish himself as one of the best strikers in Europe just yet and fans of top clubs like Chelsea and Machester City often prefer the best players in Europe.
Even so, if either club manages to lure him in, Nkunku would be a great addition to the Premier League.
