Sassuolo CEO confirms Arsenal made bid for Italian midfielder and delivers additional thrilling replace
Speaking to reporters on Thursday evening, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali confirmed that Mikel Arteta’s arsenal had indeed made an offer for Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
Arsenal have been linked to a stunning summer move for Sassuolo’s 2020 Euro winners.
With the Serie A giant rumored to be there, it won’t be an easy task for the Gunners to lure the talented midfielder away from Italy.
While it is widely accepted that the player himself would prefer a move to “The Old Lady”, Arsenal have not yet been taken out of the running.
The latest in the ongoing saga comes from Sassuolo’s CEO Carnevali, who recently claimed Arsenal had previously made an offer – though the CEO didn’t reveal how much the Londoners were putting on the table.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Carnevali said: “Friday we will speak to Juve, it is not certain that we will meet, but we will do it shortly anyway and time will be running out in the coming days.
“There’s also a conversation with Arsenal and another English club, we’re happy that he can stay in the Italian league, we’ll see what happens.
“The boy would like to go to Juve, but when another club approaches, he has to make his assessments and examine other options.
“Because it is not certain that the conditions at Juve will satisfy us, the three of us have to come to an agreement, otherwise it could stay with Sassuolo because he wants to strengthen himself and we have to find the right solution one way or another.”
