Solskjaer responds to Varane Man United rumours

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that Manchester United want a strong squad ahead of Raphael Varane’s possible arrival

United may have spent nearly £ 1 billion on new players since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down from management, but this squad lacks world-class talent across the field.

David De Gea is one of the best stoppers in the game, Harry Maguire is considered a world class act, Bruno Fernandes is wearing this season while the brilliant Marcus Rashford holds his own top but beyond that, as I said, there are some serious quality flaws in the side .

Maguire needs a new center-back at the club who will add some pace to the team and Varane has been a player United has tried to sign over the past few seasons but his high rating has meant a deal was possible to close.

However, United was helped in their chase to finally sign the Frenchman after reports surfaced that he is now free to negotiate a move to Old Trafford

According to recent reports, United have started talks with the Frenchman and a deal is imminent, but when asked how close United are to the signing of Varane, the manager told TalkSport: “Haha … same again!

“We want a strong squad,” he added. “We want to challenge and we want to improve compared to last season.”

United tried to sign Varane back in 2011 and he’s been a superstar in the game ever since. So if the reports are true and United have a chance to sign him, they should do so before PSG or Manchester City take action

He would be a fantastic signing for United and a bargain for the £ 60m he could sign for
