Tomori welcomes ex-Chelsea star Olivier Giroud to Milan
Fikayo Tomori sent a message to Olivier Giroud after sealing his move from Chelsea to AC Milan
The English defender was on loan at San Siro last season and the Serie A giants activated a purchase option clause on their deal with Chelsea that saw Tomori move to the club this summer for a £ 28.5m fee.
Tomori has since been supported in Milan by former teammate Giroud, who decided to leave Stamford Bridge after the Italians showed keen interest in a transfer deal.
Giroud was viewed as a minor player for Chelsea under the direction of Thomas Tuchel. So as the club tried to step up their attack in this transfer window and add another striker to the attack, they wanted to remove his wages from the bill.
And after agreeing to the two-year move to the Seria A giants, Tomori gave a welcoming message to his new Milan team-mate: “A very friendly person and a great striker,” said Tomori on the metro
“He has immense experience, he played in great teams, always hit a lot and, above all, won a lot.
‘He will help us.’
Chelsea have managed to get some decent money for Tomori and Giroud in that transfer window, £ 20m in fact. So the fans hope the money will be used to bring in another defender, midfielder and striker
Tuchel hasn’t spent anything shocking on this transfer window, but there are still a few months to go so he has time to find the kind of players he hopes will have a real impact on the squad.
But Chelsea fans will wish both Tomori and Giroud the very best in their new club
