West Bromwich Albion followers rave about Matheus Pereira’s stellar show vs Chelsea

A selection of West Bromwich Albion fans praised Matheus Pereira after his outstanding performance against Chelsea in the Premier League.

The Baggies saw an impressive 5-2 triumph over the Blues at Stamford Bridge in today’s opener, and Pereira was instrumental in the result.

The Midlands team went 1-0 behind in the 27th minute, but moments later Thiago Silva received his marching orders for the Blues after a second attack on the yellow card.

That gave the Baggies a solid advantage, and they scored by finding the back of the net twice in added time of the first half.

Pereira equalized with a lob over the goalkeeper after an excellent first touch from a long ball from goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

A few minutes later, the 24-year-old packed his braces. He showed great composure before shoving the ball into the lower right corner.

In the second half, the Baggies controlled the process to claim a 5-2 triumph, and Pereira was once again the catalyst with two templates for his name.

While the Blues were a man, the Baggies had to take the opportunity, and they did it with flying colors.

Pereira has been the club’s most prolific player this season and some fans were delighted after his last appearance in West London.

The Brazilian has scored 13 goals (eight goals and five assists) this season and Callum Robinson was second-best with just five goals.

Beating the Blues has given the Baggies hope to overcome the decline as they are now seven points behind 17th-place Newcastle United with a game in hand.

Pereira will play a key role in their relegation battle and it remains to be seen if Sam Allardyce’s side can carry the momentum against Southampton.

The former Sporting Lisbon attacker is likely to attract a lot of interest from other Premier League clubs this summer, regardless of the Baggies’ league status.
