Wilson publicizes he would have advised Toon to signal this participant
Callum Wilson admits that he would have asked Steve Bruce to sign the “incredible” loaned Chelsea ace Ross Barkley if the Newcastle United striker.
Wilson was the big summer buy from the toon over the summer transfer window, but despite a slow start to club life, he’s really become a steadfast fan favorite with his performances and goals.
No other player has been directly involved in more goals for Newcastle this season – Wilson has 10 goals and five assists – and the Magpies haven’t won a league game in 2020-21 without the injured striker.
It was believed that Steve was dying to bring Bruce Barkley to St. James’ Park, but the attacking midfielder completed a loan deal for Aston Villa last September.
WHAT’S THE LATEST?
Wilson knows Barkley from his time together in England and the Newcastle frontman would have liked to team up with the “unreal” Liverpudlian.
“To play and train with him and what not at international level, for me as a striker he would be a great person to play with at club level,” Wilson told the Super Six podcast.
“He would help you score goals and the like. I didn’t even know he was going to be loaned from Chelsea or I would have said to Bruce, I would have said to the manager, “You have to bring him here because he’s amazing.”
“For me I have other great players in Jonjo Shelvey and players who can play incredible balls and of course also contribute to my season.”
It’s really a shame, he could have been a great signing for the club
